THE APLHIV COMMUNITY AWARDS
The APLHIV Community Awards were developed in 2022 to honor PLHIV and organizations who are making significant contributions to HIV community through their time, actions, talents and dedication. The honoree selected should serve as a role model for compassion, and service and be striving to make the world a better place for People Living with HIV. They should also demonstrate a passion for helping others in the HIV community.
ELIGIBILITY
Any person living with HIV or organization working with HIV may be nominated except for senior management of APLHIV or any member of the Awards committee. APLHIV itself cannot compete in the organizational category
CRITERIA
Persons/organizations being nominated for this award will have consistently demonstrated qualities of compassion, and service to HIV community and have a proven track record of working within the field of HIV. There should be tangible proof that the nominee person/organization have made a difference in the HIV response and have gone beyond their job descriptions to help HIV community in Pakistan.
NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS
Anyone may submit a nomination for the APLHIV Community Award with the nominee’s or organization’s permission. Self-nominations are also accepted. Nominations must clearly document why the nominees should be considered for this award.
Nominations must contain sufficient information to inform the selection process without additional research. Complete nominations must include the nominee’s curriculum vitae/resume(s) and in case of nominated organizations their organizational profile. While a CV or resume/organizational profile provides the committee with a more comprehensive overview of the nominee’s accomplishments and experiences, it is not a substitute for any of the required information listed in the nomination forms. Kindly not that the decision-making committee will not request any additional information, and all submitted documents will be considered final for the decision-making process. Please ensure that documents mentioned in these guidelines as well as in nomination form are attached.
JUDGING CRITERIA
A committee comprising of independent representatives from Ministry of Health, UN System, APLHIV and HIV Community will finalize and decide of the winners for both categories.
Each nominee or team will be judged against the following required criteria:
- Substantive participation and leadership within HIV
- Contributions considered to have had an impact in the HIV community
- Leadership demonstrated in institutions where currently or previously employed or within HIV community
In addition, the committee will also look for evidence that supports:
- Breadth of the community engagement portfolio
- Leadership in addressing issues, influencing change, or new directions from the perspective of HIV Community empowerment
The marking criteria will be as under:
- The degree to which their services/ actions have made a lasting or meaningful contribution or impact on their community – 40%
- The length and degree of their service(s) – 20%
- The extent to which their service or action might be considered above and beyond the call of duty – 20%
- The extent to which their action would be recognized and valued by their peers/ community leaders- 20%
PRESENTATION
The APLHIV Community Awards are presented at the Annual Gala Dinner of APLHIV held around World AIDS Day Activities in December. The winners will receive a cash prize, shield, certificate and flowers to recognize their work for HIV community.
