Our Core Values

Core Values

APLHIV’s work is guided by core principles that strongly resonate with Islamic values and ethical teachings. Inclusiveness, dignity, equity, collaboration and principles of GIPA and MIPA are our core values.

At the heart of our approach is inclusiveness, reflecting the Islamic principle that all human beings are equal in dignity and worth, without discrimination. We strive to ensure that all people living with HIV (PLHIV) and affected communities are included, heard, and supported.

The principle of dignity underpins our advocacy for respectful, stigma-free lives for PLHIV, aligning with Islam’s emphasis on honoring human life and safeguarding personal dignity. Equity guides our efforts to ensure fair and just access to prevention, treatment, care, and support services, echoing the Islamic commitment to justice (Adl) and fairness.

We strongly believe in collaboration, recognizing that collective action and shared responsibility (Ta’awun) are essential to addressing complex social and public health challenges. Finally, our commitment to GIPA and MIPA reflects the Islamic values of consultation (Shura), empowerment, and community participation, ensuring that those most affected actively shape policies and decisions.

Together, these principles ensure that APLHIV’s HIV response is compassionate, just, community-led, and faith-informed.
